AIRCO NOW OFFICIALLY CERTIFIES MUSIC SALES FOR ITS MEMBERS
The Association of Independent Record Companies of South Africa (AIRCO) is proud to announce another major milestone in its journey to strengthen and empower South Africa’s independent music sector.
AIRCO now officially offers Music Sales Certification for qualifying AIRCO members.
This new service recognizes the commercial success of independently released music by acknowledging verified sales and streaming achievements through an independent certification process.
For years, certification has served as one of the music industry’s most respected symbols of achievement. AIRCO now extends this opportunity to qualifying independent record labels and artists represented by AIRCO, ensuring that the achievements of the independent sector receive the recognition they deserve.

AIRCO MUSIC SALES CERTIFICATION GUIDE
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to AIRCO Members in good standing who own or control the master recording rights of the music being submitted.
Eligible Releases
Applications may be submitted for:
- Albums
- Singles
- EPs
- Music Videos
- Digital Releases
- Other qualifying audio-visual products approved by AIRCO
Application Process
Step 1
Complete the AIRCO Music Sales Certification Application Form.
Step 2
Submit a formal application on your company letterhead containing:
- Record Company Name
- Label Name
- Artist Name
- Release Title
- Catalogue Number (where applicable)
- Release Date
- Product Format
- Certification Level Requested
- Total Sales and/or Streaming Figures
- Previous Certification (if applicable)
Step 3
Attach supporting documentation including:
- DSP Sales Reports
- Streaming Reports
- Distribution Statements
- Sales Summaries
- Financial Reports (where applicable)
- Any additional documentation requested by AIRCO
Step 4
AIRCO conducts an initial compliance review to ensure that all required documentation has been submitted.
Step 5
The application is referred to an independent verification process, where submitted sales and streaming information is audited to confirm eligibility for certification.
Step 6
Once the verification process has been successfully completed, AIRCO will officially issue:
- AIRCO Music Sales Certificate
- Official Certification Number
- Recognition of the certified achievement
- Authority to obtain official AIRCO Certification Plaques (where applicable)
Verification Principles
To maintain the integrity and credibility of AIRCO Certifications:
- All applications must be supported by verifiable evidence.
- AIRCO reserves the right to request additional supporting documentation.
- False or misleading submissions may result in the rejection or withdrawal of certification.
- Every certification is independently verified before approval.
